In the boudoir..........

I have mixed a bit of French and seaside themes together to create a soft and relaxing feel to our bedroom......

These bedside tables were a bargain as I picked them up for $40 at a used furniture store and then gave them an antique white finish and then put the vintage chair paper under the glass......

We didnt have a headboard so I took this piece of wood from our attic, white washed it and then hot glued on the twig and seashell..........

The curtains came from a beautiful home decor store in Georgia, I picked them up when I was on a trip with my daughter.  I highly recommend shopping in Georgia for home decor......

Girl power...........

So, I had been wanting to cover the outside of the kitchen with board and batton for some time and I finally got it done..........myself that is.  From start to finish this was my project.  The only help I got from my husband was to cut a few pieces of wood on the table saw.  For those of you who dont know, it had boring white horizontal siding that was looking a bit tired.  now it looks fresher and new.....

On the softer side, I had ordered these gorgeous french linen tea towels from Andrea of Faded Plains,  and they finally arrived today.  They now adorn my ladder in the kitchen........but they are for show only!

Visit my blog later this weekend for new recipes as I am doing a pork crown roast with a pork, apple and sage stuffing amongst other things..........

This and That........

Lately I have been spending more time decorating the outside of my house versus the inside.  I do love seasonal decorating and with all of the fall colours it makes it so much fun.......

When I was at my neighbours market garden to get the pumpkins and gourds for above I noticed that he had a ton of burlap bags hanging about.  I asked him if I could have a couple and he had two that were in pristine condition.  Amazingly they fit the pillows on the back of my upstairs sofa like a glove.  with a little bit of embellishment they are exactly what I have been looking for.......what a buzz!

and just a bit more of this and that........

Cozy corners..........

For the longest time this corner was home to the biggest and rather ugly speaker that my husband insists on keeping.  He has this frat boy idea that we are going to have loud music all through the house with speakers everywhere.........well, not on my watch.  I convinced him to move them upstairs so I could reclaim this space in the dining room and now its so much prettier!

One of the wonderful things about having an older home with character is that you can do different things  everyone doesn't always think of.  In this case, I used barn board for wainscotting that I lightly white washes with a vintage looking paper above........I love the effect.

When we bought this house I searched high and low to find just the right style of woodstove to suit the house.  I had to purchase it from the states but it is well worth it.  I use it to keep food warm as well as the house cozy and warm.

Trip to Scotland.........

Duncan, my husband and I travelled to Scotland in the spring to visit my daughter who moved there a year ago.  Here are a few pics of the gorgeous architecture, seaside scenes etc..........enjoy!

Off to the higlands of Scotland.....

Market garden........

I have the good fortune of living across the road from a market garden where I can get fresh vegetables and herbs right from the ground, spring through to fall.  One of the many pleasure of living in the country........enjoy some shots of Laverne's fall bounty...........

In the Kitchen...........

The first room we did anything to was the kitchen as it is the place where I make my living as a caterer.  Although there is still alot to do, it is the prettiest room in the house.

My indoor garden.....

This piece was a bargain and I had the piece of old wood that I mounted on the top to match our counter tops........I just love a good bargain!

Must love dogs..........

Winchester
One of the things that I love about country living is the wide open spaces that allow you to have lots of pets.  I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and the dogs and I go walking just about every day day along the rail trail. Here are few shots of what I see every day.........
